Millsap helps Jazz end road skid with victory over Magic
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Utah Jazz forward Paul Millsap scored a career-best 28 points to help his team end a seven-game losing streak on the road with a 113-94 victory over the Orlando Magic on Friday.
Millsap scored 13 consecutive points in the third quarter as the Jazz grabbed a decisive 77-67 lead with 1:16 left in the period. He made 11 of 15 shots from the field for the game.
Carlos Boozer added 24 points and nine rebounds and Deron Williams had 17 points and seven assists for the Jazz.
Matt Harpring added 10 in his return after missing three games with a gastric problem.
Utah's bench outscored Orlando 50-20 as the Jazz won for only the second time in 10 games.
The loss was the sixth in eight games for the Magic.
Hedo Turkoglu led Orlando with 27 points and Dwight Howard added 20 points and 13 rebounds.
* Paul Pierce scored 15 of his 22 points in the third quarter as the Boston Celtics breezed to a 107-82 victory over the Chicago Bulls.
Ray Allen added 18 points for the Celtics, who used a 10-0 run in the second quarter to break open the game. Ben Gordon scored 19 points for the Bulls.
* The Los Angeles Lakers rebounded from their loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 106-101 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.
Andrew Bynum had 24 points and 11 rebounds while Lamar Odom added 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Lakers.
Andre Miller led Philadelphia with 21 points.
* Joe Johnson scored 16 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter and the Atlanta Hawks won their fourth straight with a 97-92 victory over the Washington Wizards.
Antawn Jamison led the Wizards with 30 points.
* Al Jefferson had 29 points and 13 rebounds while Sebastian Telfair scored 27 and Antoine Walker 23 in the Minnesota Timberwolves' 131-118 romp over the Indiana Pacers.
Mike Dunleavy scored 30 for the Pacers.
* Gerald Wallace's 27 points powered the Charlotte Bobcats to a 105-95 victory at home against the New York Knicks.
Nate Robinson scored 20 for the Knicks, who were without point guard Stephon Marbury.
* Detroit held the Memphis Grizzles to just 13 points in the fourth quarter to record a comfortable 94-67 victory at home.
Tayshaun Prince led the Pistons with 16 points while Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton each had 14 and Antonio McDyess contributed 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Rudy Gay scored 18 points for Memphis.
