Dec 2 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals involving European, North American and Asian companies were reported by 2100 GMT on Tuesday.

** European Union finance ministers agreed to boost the capital of the European Investment Bank (EIB), the EU's lending arm, so it can finance new car, energy and regional aid projects to fight recession.

** British Airways (BAY.L) said it is in merger talks with Australia's Qantas (QAN.AX), signalling further consolidation in an industry desperate to cut costs in the global economic downturn. [ID:nL2496487]

** Shares in Nexen Inc (NXY.TO) jumped by nearly a third after a report said that French oil major Total SA (TOTF.PA) is poised to make a C$19.7 billion ($15.8 billion) takeover offer for Canada's No. 4 independent oil explorer. [ID:nN02269547]

** Coca-Cola Co (KO.N) said it had filed an application for anti-trust approval in China for the company's $2.5 billion bid for top domestic juice maker China Huiyuan Juice Group (1886.HK). [ID:nHKG240231]

** Singapore state investor Temasek Holdings [TEM.UL] said it had sold electricity generator PowerSeraya to a subsidiary of Malaysia's YTL Power International Bhd (YTLP.KL) for S$3.8 billion ($2.5 billion). [ID:nSP389834]

** Singapore Airport Terminal Services (SATS) (SIAT.SI) will pay up to US$333 million for Singapore Food Industries (SFI) SFIL.SI, which is 70 percent-owned by state investor Temasek, and said it was open to making more acquisitions. [ID:nSP307862]

** British transport firm Stobart Group (STOB.L) said it had agreed to buy Southend Airport in south-east England from Regional Airports Limited for up to 21 million pounds ($31.1 million). [ID:nL2627206]

** Australian uranium miner Paladin Energy Ltd (PDN.AX) (PDN.TO) said it intends to buy mineral exploration company Fusion Resources Ltd FSN.AX FNS.TO for A$17.8 million ($11.35 million) to expand its portfolio in the Mt Isa region of Queensland. [ID:nBNG402840]

** Memory chip maker Numonyx delayed a purchase of a small stake in its Chinese joint venture with Hynix Semiconductor (000660.KS), Hynix said, as chip makers grapple with a major industry downturn and cash shortage. [ID:nSEO181636]

** The owners of fast-growing Russian lender Ursa Bank and top-30 bank MDM are eyeing a merger which would create Russia's second-largest privately-owned bank, a source close to the deal told Reuters. [ID:nL2100924]

** Kuwait's troubled Gulf Bank (GBKK.KW) has received "numerous" merger offers but believes the time is not right for a deal, its chairman said. [ID:nL2170523]
