BOSTON (Reuters) - Free agent center Patrick O'Bryant, who has seen limited action with the Golden State Warriors the past two seasons, has joined the Boston Celtics, the NBA champions said on Wednesday.

The 7-foot O'Bryant, the ninth overall pick in the 2006 draft, appeared in 40 games for the Warriors and averaged 1.7 points and 1.3 rebounds. He played eight games for the Bakersfield Jam of the Development League last season.

The Celtics won their 17th NBA title last month, beating the Los Angeles Lakers 4-2 in the best of seven finals.

Boston newspapers also reported that Celtics forward James Posey, 31, had agreed to a four-year, $25 million contract with the New Orleans Hornets, citing an NBA source.

Posey averaged 7.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 24.6 minutes per game with the Celtics last season.
