FACTBOX: Security developments in Afghanistan
(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 9 a.m. EDT on Thursday:
BALKH - A land mine killed five people, two of them children, on Thursday in a camp housing displaced in the drought-hit northern province of Balkh, police said.
- A mass grave was found on Thursday near Mazar-i-Sharif, Balkh's provincial capital. Some 50 bodies have been unearthed so far, another official said.
SHARAN - Hundreds of residents on Thursday staged a protest against killing of civilians by U.S.-led soldiers during an operation against the Taliban in the southeastern Paktika province, the governor of the province said. He said put civilian deaths from Tuesday's raid at 12.
