APEC-Jin says China increasing yuan flexibility

Thu Aug 2, 2007 10:35pm EDT

COOLUM, Australia, Aug 3 (Reuters) - China's Finance Minister Jin Renqing said on Friday the country was constantly increasing the flexibility of the yuan, but would not allow its currency policy to be pressured by others.

China's main problem was to maintain momentum in economic growth, Jin told reporters after the conclusion of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting of 21 finance ministers.

The United States has been urging China to let its currency rise in value more quickly.
