Australia's Santos says finds gas in Browse Basin

SYDNEY, Aug 13 (Reuters) - Australian oil and gas producer Santos Ltd (STO.AX) has made a gas discovery at its Browse Basin prospect offshore Western Australia, the company said on Thursday.

Japan

Santos, which operates Browse with a 47.8 percent stake, said further work would be done to determine the commercial significance of the find.

Joint venture partners in Browse are Chevron Australia (CVX.N) with 24.8 percent, Japan's INPEX (1605.T) with 20 percent and Beach Petroleum (BPT.AX) with 7.3 percent. (Reporting by James Thornhill)
