Australia's Orica year profit up 13 pct

MELBOURNE, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Australian explosives group Orica Ltd (ORI.AX) reported on Monday a 12.9 percent rise in full year profit before one-offs, well ahead of analysts' forecasts, bolstered by demand from coal miners.

The group, which also manufactures paints and chemicals, said net profit rose to A$646.1 million ($596.6 million) for the year to September from A$572.3 million a year earlier.

Analysts on average had expected a net profit of A$600.2 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. (Reporting by Sonali Paul; Editing by Jonathan Standing)
