TOKYO, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Japan's Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T) has started to reduce production at a plant in China, the world's second-largest auto market, the Nikkei business daily said on Sunday.

China

Toyota has begun to reduce production of small- and medium-sized automobiles at its main factory in Guangdong by about 10 percent, the paper said.

The Nikkei said it was the first time that Toyota was adjusting production at the plant, which has an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles.

The output cut, which began this month, is likely to take place for several months at least, it said.

Mazda Motor Co (7261.T) said in August that it is cutting production in China after slower-than-expected sales of its compact cars swelled inventories.

Car sales growth in China slowed to 17.07 percent in the first half after a rise of 20 percent or more annually since 2005. (Reporting by Miho Yoshikawa; Editing by Jacqueline Wong)
