Topix down 2.2 pct, uncertainty haunts after rally

TOKYO, Sept 9 (Reuters) - The broad-based Topix index fell 2.2 percent on Tuesday, a day after the U.S. government's bailout of top mortgage firms sparked a broad market rally, with bank shares sliding amid continued uncertainty over the global economy.

As of 0342 GMT, the Topix had shed 26.15 points to 1,190.26.
