Japan's Sumitomo Trust: system glitches hit ATMs

TOKYO, May 19 (Reuters) - Sumitomo Trust & Banking Co (8403.T), Japan's fifth-largest bank, said on Monday system glitches halted services at its automated teller machines (ATMs) and Internet banking.

Sumitomo Trust said all 141 ATMs at its branches were unstable from early on Monday morning and ATM services at some convenience stores were also down. The cause of the problem and the timing to resolve it were still unknown, it said. The company's shares closed the morning session down 0.1 percent at 896 yen. The benchmark Nikkei average .N225 was up 0.1 percent. (Reporting by Sachi Izumi)
