UPDATE 1-Nippon Oil's Sendai refinery not damaged by quake
(Adds information on Japan's reserve bases)
TOKYO, June 14 (Reuters) - Japanese refiner Nippon Oil Corp's (5001.T) 145,000 barrel-per-day Sendai refinery was not damaged by a powerful earthquake on Saturday, a refinery official said.
The quake had no impact on operations because the refinery has been shut since earlier this month for scheduled maintenance, the official said.
Japan's trade ministry said it detected no irregularities at any of the five strategic oil reserve bases located in the region, including Akita, Kuji and Mutsu.
Nuclear power facilities run by Tohoku Electric Power Co (9506.T) and Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) (9501.T) located in northern Japan were operating normally after the earthquake, officials of the utilities said.
The quake cut power to Tohoku Electric's roughly 22,000 customers, while TEPCO reported no electricity disruption, the trade ministry said.
A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.0 jolted northern Japan at 8:43 a.m. on Saturday (2343 GMT Friday), with the Japanese government reporting two people killed. [ID:nL14661275] (Reporting by Osamu Tsukimori and Chikafumi Hodo; Editing by Louise Heavens)
