SHANGHAI, April 20 (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp. (7203.T) and its Chinese partner FAW Car Co. (000800.SZ) announced on Friday a new $270 million factory in the Chinese city of Tianjin, with annual output capacity of 220,000 engines.

Toyota and FAW already operate a 220,000 units-a-year engine factory through the 50:50 Tianjin FAW Toyota Engine Co. joint venture, which supplies engines for the Vios, Corolla and other models built by the partners' vehicle assembly venture.

The new plant will begin producing engines for the new Corolla sedan from the middle of this year.
