Japan's Topix down 2.2 pct, financials sold

TOKYO, July 8 (Reuters) - The Topix index fell 2.2 percent on Tuesday, with financials such as top lender Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (8306.T) dropping after a fresh supply of financial worries hit Wall Street.

The market extended losses in the afternoon after other Asian markets posted sharp losses.

As of 0335 GMT, the benchmark Nikkei .N225 fell 344.07 to 13,015.97, while the broader Topix lost 2.2 percent to 1,284.47. (Reporting by Taiga Uranaka)
