AIG says to halt merger process of Japan units

TOKYO, Dec 24 (Reuters) - U.S. insurer American International Group (AIG.N) said on Wednesday that it would halt the merger process for its two Japanese life insurers, AIG Star Life Insurance and AIG Edison Life Insurance.

The two insurers will make an official announcement at 0200 GMT, said a spokesman from AIG Group's Japan unit. (Reporting by Mariko Katsumura)
