Citi to keep corp lending, other assets in Japan

TOKYO, May 1 (Reuters) - Citigroup (C.N) said that it planned to keep its Japan consumer, corporate lending, custodial services, trading and capital markets businesses.

It plans to keep about 5,000 employees in Japan.

Citigroup announced earlier that it would sell retail broker Nikko Cordial and parts of invesmtent bank Nikko Citigroup to Japanese bank Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (8316.T). (Reporting by David Dolan)
