Sumitomo Trust, Chuo Mitsui say in merger talks

TOKYO, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Japan's Sumitomo Trust and Banking (8403.T) and Chuo Mitsui Trust Holding (8309.T) said on Friday they are in talks to merge, their first acknowledgement of a deal that would combine the two mid-sized banks.

"We will make an announcement as soon as something is decided," they both said in separate statements.

The Nikkei business said an announcement would come on Friday, although a merger ratio will be decided at a later date. (Reporting by Mayumi Negishi)
