Japan June housing starts rise 0.6 pct yr/yr -govt

TOKYO, July 30 (Reuters) - Housing starts in Japan rose 0.6 percent in June from a year earlier, data from the land ministry showed on Friday, helped by government subsidies and tax breaks for energy efficient homes. [JPHST=ECI]
The climb was below a median estimate for a 1.5 percent annual rise and follows a 4.6 percent annual fall the previous month.
Orders received by 50 major construction companies in June fell 10.2 percent from a year earlier, after a 9.2 percent annual increase in the previous month. [JPCORD=ECI]
