Sony receives EU charge sheet on videotape cartel

TOKYO, March 22 (Reuters) - Japan's Sony Corp. (6758.T) said on Thursday it had received a statement of objections, or charge sheet, from the European Commission regarding alleged cartel activities in the professional videotape market.

Two other Japanese professional videotape makers, Fujifilm Holdings Corp. (4901.T) and Hitachi Maxell Ltd. (6810.T), both said on Tuesday that they had received a statement of objections on the same charge. The European Commission has charged several unnamed companies with participating in cartel activities in the market for professional videotape.
