Nikkei down 0.2 pct as Toyota, auto shares fall

TOKYO, May 9 (Reuters) - The Nikkei share average fell 0.23 percent at the start of trade on Wednesday, with auto shares such as Toyota Motor Corp. (7203.T) falling on a strengthening yen.

The Nikkei .N225 was down 40.26 points at 17,616.58 as of 0001 GMT. The broad TOPIX index shed 0.16 percent to 1,729.90.
