Kirin extends losses as merger talks with Suntory end
TOKYO, Feb 8 (Reuters) - Kirin Holdings extended losses to fall 6.8 percent on Monday after saying it has decided to end merger talks with privately held Suntory [SUNTH.UL], capping months of speculation over what would have created one of the world's largest food and beverage makers.
Kirin cited differences over how to ensure management independence and transparency in a merged company. [ID:nTKF106835]
The benchmark Nikkei .N225 fell 0.2 percent and the broader Topix also lost 0.2 percent.
