CHINA TIMES

--Taiwan's envoy to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting this month will speak to Chinese President Hu Jintao in a private meeting about a free trade agreement-like pact.

-- Taiwan has asked to include petrochemical, textile and machinery products on a list of sectors eligible for tariff concessions as part of the trade deal with China.

UNITED DAILY NEWS

-- Taiwan government officials denied reports that companies in the United States had decided to suspend shipments of bone-in beef to Taiwan.

-- Vanessa Shih, Taiwan's representative to Singapore, said the two sides could begin talks on a free trade agreement after the signing of a similar deal with China.

LIBERTY TIMES

-- A section of the Berlin Wall was donated to Taiwan by a German local government as a sign of support for democracy and human rights.

COMMERCIAL TIMES

-- Smartphone maker HTC (2498.TW), which competes with Apple Inc (AAPL.O), is expected to post sales of T$15 billion ($462 million) to T$16 billion in November, its highest monthly level this year, unnamed industry sources said.

ECONOMIC DAILY NEWS

-- Chunghwa Telecom (2412.TW) is set to sign a memorandum of understanding with Fujitsu (6702.T) on Wednesday to tap business opportunities in electronics commerce, Internet content and green technology.
