Netscape founder Andreessen joins eBay's board

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - EBay Inc (EBAY.O) said on Tuesday that Netscape founder Marc Andreessen had joined the online auctioneer's board of directors.

Andreessen, who is also on the board of Facebook, is working on Internet start-up Ning, a free service that allows users to build their own social networks.

"We look forward to learning from Marc's insights and expertise as we drive further innovation on our platform ...," eBay Chief Executive John Donahoe said in a statement.

Other board members at the company, which also operates online payments service PayPal and Web-based call service Skype, include former eBay CEO Margaret Whitman, former Agilent Technologies Inc (A.N) CEO Edward Barnholt and Intuit Inc (INTU.O) founder Scott Cook.
