Anheuser-Busch, Teamsters reach tentative 5-year deal
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Anheuser-Busch Inc (BUD.N) said on Tuesday it had agreed on a tentative, five-year deal with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters that would cover more than 5,000 workers at its 12 breweries in the United States.
A vote by union members is expected in November, the maker of Budweiser said.
The agreement calls for wages to increase by 15 percent over five years, higher life insurance coverage and a renewed commitment to keep the dozen breweries open for the term of the deal if union members ratify the deal on a first vote.
St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch is in the process of being acquired by Belgian brewer InBev INTB.BR, the maker of Stella Artois and Beck's beer.
If approved, the contract would remain in place under the merger, Anheuser-Busch said.
