Wachovia "pleased" Citigroup ends talks on merger

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wachovia Corp is pleased Citigroup has ended efforts to stop it from merging with Wells Fargo & Co, the North Carolina-based bank said in a statement on Thursday.

"We're pleased Citigroup has abandoned its efforts to interfere with Wachovia's planned merger with Wells Fargo," the statement said. "We look forward to completing our merger with Wells Fargo."
