    Oasis "Dig" up top spot on UK album chart

    LONDON (Reuters) - Oasis went straight to No. 1 on the album charts Sunday with their first album in three years, continuing their unbroken string of chart-toppers.

    "Dig Out Your Soul," Oasis' seventh album, ended the two-week reign of cult American rockers Kings of Leon's "Only by the Night," which slipped to No. 2. Oasis, led by brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, first went to No. 1 with their 1994 debut "Definitely Maybe."

    The news was not all good for the band, though; the album's first single, "The Shock of the Lightning," tumbled 13 places to No. 16 in its second week. The band's previous album, 2005's "Don't Believe the Truth," yielded two chart-toppers.

    Bob Dylan was a new entrant at No. 9 on the album chart with "Tell Tale Signs," the latest entrant in his "Bootleg" series of rare and unreleased recordings.

    There was little change at the top of the singles chart, with American singer Pink holding on to No. 1 with "So What." Still at No. 2 was Kings of Leon with "Sex on Fire," while the all-girl band Sugababes rose one place to No. 3 with "Girls."
