Bryant knee injury not considered serious: LA Lakers
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant's injured right knee is not considered serious and he would be monitored on a daily basis, the team said on Wednesday.
Bryant collided with team mate Josh Powell during the second quarter of the Lakers' pre-season game against the Charlotte Bobcats on Tuesday, and did not return. Initial reports suggested the league MVP's injury was serious.
However Bryant, who sat out practice on Wednesday and received treatment, said he could return for Thursday's game with the Bobcats and "should be fine" to play the season opener against the Portland Trail Blazers on October 28.
"I was very concerned last night - I heard a crunch, a pop," Bryant told reporters. "It's sore, but I'm OK."
