NEW YORK (Reuters) - Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Greg Maddux has won a record 18th Gold Glove, extending his lead over Jim Kaat and Brooks Robinson in the all-time list for fielding prowess, the league announced on Wednesday.

The 42-year-old Maddux, an eight-times All-Star, has earned 18 of the last 19 awards as the top fielding pitcher in the National League.

In 2007, Maddux broke a tie with Baltimore Orioles third baseman Robinson and 26-year major league pitcher Kaat on 16 for the most Gold Gloves.

A veteran of 23 seasons in the major leagues, Maddux ranks eighth in the all-time listing with 355 wins.

Other Gold Glove winners in the National League included St Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina, San Diego Padres first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, New York Mets third baseman David Wright, Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins and New York Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran.

Wright, Rollins and Beltran were all repeat winners.

The World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies also had a first-time Gold Glove winner in outfielder Shane Victorino.

Gold Glove winners in the American League will be announced on Thursday.
