WASHINGTON

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House said on Tuesday it will take time to review the plans by ailing U.S. automakers as they seek government aid, and that no one should expect a quick judgment.

Barack Obama

"We won't make assessments on any plans by the automakers until we've had a chance to see full details of their proposals, and that will take time," said White House spokesman Tony Fratto. "No one should expect anyone to make snap judgments."

He repeated the White House's position that it was important "everyone finally agrees that financial viability is critical if taxpayer dollars are made available."

Ford Motor Co, General Motors Corp and Chrysler LLC have a Tuesday deadline for submitting detailed plans to congressional leaders outlining restructuring efforts and their prospects for survival in order to secure $25 billion in emergency funding.
