Large quake jolts Japan's north, no damage reported
TOKYO, Japan (Reuters) - An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.1 jolted northern Japan at 8:17 a.m. (6:17 EST) on Thursday, a government agency said.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage and no tsunami warning was issued after the quake, which the Japan Meteorological Agency said on its website (www.jma.go.jp ) was centered off the northeast coast of Honshu island.
