German-born Sturm, the Bruins top scorer last season, suffered the injury in the win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on December 18.

The team said that he had successful surgery on Tuesday to repair his meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Boston currently head the Eastern Conference with a 31-7 record.
