Judge OKs injunction to freeze Stanford assets
DALLAS (Reuters) - A federal judge on Thursday granted a request from the Securities and Exchange Commission for a preliminary injunction to freeze the assets of Texan financier Allen Stanford and three of his companies that are accused of running a massive Ponzi scheme by U.S. regulators.
U.S. District Judge David Godbey agreed to the request at a hearing in federal court in Dallas. A temporary restraining order that was initially granted on February 17 was set to expire on Thursday.
