Long was also docked 200 driver points and placed on probation until December 31, NASCAR said in a statement.

The driver's wife, Danielle Long, was also docked 200 owner points, while crew chief Charles Swing was placed on probation and fined $200,000.

Long completed just three laps at the Sprint Showdown on Saturday before dropping out with an engine problem.

His car was then found to have an engine which exceeded NASCAR's maximum specifications.
