NASCAR suspends driver Long for 12 races
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Driver Carl Long was suspended by NASCAR on Wednesday for 12 Sprint Cup races after his car's engine was found to have exceeded specifications at Lowe Motor Speedway last weekend.
Long was also docked 200 driver points and placed on probation until December 31, NASCAR said in a statement.
The driver's wife, Danielle Long, was also docked 200 owner points, while crew chief Charles Swing was placed on probation and fined $200,000.
Long completed just three laps at the Sprint Showdown on Saturday before dropping out with an engine problem.
His car was then found to have an engine which exceeded NASCAR's maximum specifications.
