Obama urges Senate to act on climate bill
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama on Friday praised the House of Representatives for passing legislation to drastically reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases blamed for global warming and he urged the Senate to act too.
"Today the House of Representatives took historic action with the passage of the American Clean Energy and Security Act," Obama said. "It's a bold and necessary step that holds the promise of creating new industries and millions of new jobs, decreasing our dangerous dependence on foreign oil."
"Now it's up to the Senate to take the next step," he added.
