Gallo maps out "Columbus Circle"
NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - George Gallo, screenwriter of such action comedies as "Bad Boys" and "Midnight Run," is heading for "Columbus Circle."
He will direct the indie thriller from a script he co-wrote with actor Kevin Pollak, who has a role in the film as well.
Selma Blair, Amy Smart, Jason Lee and Giovanni Ribisi also star in "Circle."
The story centers on a reclusive heiress (Blair) in an upscale Manhattan apartment building who is brought face-to-face with her fears when a detective (Ribisi) shows up to investigate a homicide next door and a new couple (Smart and Lee) moves in to that apartment. Pollak plays the building's concierge and one of the heiress' few friends. Jason Antoon also has been cast in the movie.
Gallo has forged a reputation as a writer adept at blending comedy and crime; in addition to "Run" and "Bad Boys," he has penned mob comedies "Wise Guys" and "The Whole Ten Yards."
Pollak is known for parts in hits like "The Usual Suspects" and "A Few Good Men." He's also the host of "Kevin Pollak's Chat Show" on the Internet. "Columbus Circle" marks his feature writing debut.
Blair most recently starred in the comic-book action feature "Hellboy 2" and will next be seen in dysfunctional-family tale "Happy Together."
