Obama confident of progress at Russia summit

MOSCOW (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama said on Monday that he was confident discussions with Kremlin chief Dmitry Medvedev could yield "extraordinary progress" with Russia on a whole range of issues.

"We are confident that we can continue to build on the excellent discussions that we had in London," Obama told Medvedev at the start of talks in the Kremlin.

"And that on a whole host of issues -- including security issues, economic issues, energy issues, environmental issues -- that the United States and Russia have more in common than they have differences and that if we work hard in these next few days we can make extraordinary progress that would benefit the people of both countries," he said.
