Griese released by Buccaneers

MIAMI (Reuters) - Veteran quarterback Brian Griese has been released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the NFL team said on its website (www.buccaneers.com ) on Monday.

Sports

The 34-year-old Griese, an 11-year NFL veteran, played in five games in his return to Tampa Bay last season, completing 110 passes for 1,073 yards and five touchdowns. Previously, he was with the Chicago Bears for two seasons.

Griese also played five seasons with the Denver Broncos, one with Miami and the 2004 and 2005 seasons with Tampa Bay. He has thrown for 119 career touchdowns and 19,440 yards.
