FACTBOX: Security developments in Afghanistan, July 14

(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan reported at 12:00 GMT on Tuesday.

* FARAH - An Italian soldier was killed and three were wounded when their military vehicle hit a roadside bomb in the western Bala Boluk district of Farah province, the Italian army and provincial governor Rohul Amin said.

* GHAZNI - Three Polish soldiers under NATO's command were wounded by a roadside bomb in the southwestern district of Khogyani in Ghazni province, provincial district police chief Mohammad Yaseen said. NATO said it was checking the report.

* SOUTHERN AFGHANISTAN - Two U.S. Marines were killed in southern Helmand province, where the Marines have launched a massive operation this month, the U.S. military said. The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) had earlier reported the deaths without giving the nationality of the servicemembers or the location of the incident.

* A civilian helicopter crashed in the Sangin district of Helmand, killing at least six foreigners including contractors delivering non-military goods to NATO troops, an alliance spokesman in Kabul said. The Taliban said it shot the helicopter down.

* Three local employees of a local security firm were killed and one wounded when a roadside bomb hit their vehicle in the southern Nahr Saraj district on Monday, the Interior Ministry said.

ZABUL - Eight inmates, seven of them Taliban prisoners, escaped from a provincial prison after attacking guards in Zabul province in the south on Monday night, senior police officer Ghulam Jailani said. A hunt for them was under way.

URUZGAN - A roadside bomb killed three civilians and wounded six including a woman when their van hit the device in the southern Chenar Tu district of Uruzgan province, the Interior Ministry said.

BADGHIS - Taliban insurgents killed an Afghan army soldier in the southwestern Bala Murghab district on Monday, the Defense Ministry said.

HELMAND - Afghan soldiers killed an insurgent, returning fire in the Musa Qala district of Helmand on Monday, the Defense Ministry said.

GHAZNI - Afghan soldiers killed two Taliban militants and wounded three when firing artillery at a militant position in the Rashidan district of Ghazni province on Monday night, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

KANDAHAR - Afghan security forces identified and shot dead a suicide car bomber attempting to enter an Afghan army outpost in the southern Dand district on Monday, the Defense Ministry said.

Six Afghan soldiers and an interpreter were wounded when the explosives in the car went off, it said.
