Australia sees no commercial impact from Rio detentions

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said on Thursday the detention of an Australian Rio Tinto mining executive in China would not have an impact on commercial ties.

Stern Hu, an Australian citizen, and three Chinese colleagues were detained this month on suspicion of stealing state secrets to aid Rio in price negotiations for iron ore.

At least one Chinese steel executive is also being detained and the probe has reached many of the largest mills.
