Quest Software profit beats Street; shares rise
(Reuters) - Quest Software Inc (QSFT.O), which develops enterprise systems management solutions, posted a better-than-expected quarterly profit, helped by a fall in operating expenses.
Quest Software, whose offerings include products related to application, database and Windows management, earned $20.5 million, or 21 cents a share, compared with $8.3 million, or 8 cents a share, in the year-ago period.
Revenue dipped 5 percent to $164.3 million.
Operating expenses declined 17 percent to $121.9 million.
Excluding items, the company earned 29 cents a share.
Analysts were expecting Quest Software to earn 20 cents a share, before items, on revenue of $165.5 million, according to Reuters Estimates.
Shares of the company were up 6 percent at $15.80 in trading after the bell. They closed at $14.93 Monday on Nasdaq.
