Heritage eyeing big takeovers after selling fields

LONDON (Reuters) - UK oil explorer Heritage Oil (HOIL.L) said it was eyeing large takeovers after selling its Ugandan interests for up to $1.5 billion, with transactions worth hundreds of millions of dollars a possibility.

"We'll have a billion dollars in cash so we've certainly got the financial resources to undertake some very large transactions," Chief Financial Officer Paul Atherton told Reuters in a telephone interview, adding the company's focus would remain on Africa and the Middle East.

"We want to grow," he said.
