Goldfrapp diving "Head First" into new album

NEW YORK (Billboard) - U.K.-based duo Goldfrapp will follow its 2008 album, "Seventh Tree," with "Head First," due March 23 in the United States and a day earlier internationally.
A track list for the Mute release has yet to be announced, but the dance-floor-friendly first single, "Rocket," will be released March 9. Dates are pending for Goldfrapp's 2010 tour in support of the album.
A surprising detour away from synth-based pop into acoustic-driven folk and ballads, "Seventh Tree" reached a career-best No. 48 on the Billboard 200 and has sold 59,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Group members Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory wrote the score for the film "Nowhere Boy," the story of John Lennon as a youth. The film premiered in late October at the London Film Festival and will open in the U.K. and other countries this winter. A North American release date has not yet been set.
The pair also reportedly have worked with Christina Aguilera on tracks for her next album.
