Obama wins N.Carolina presidential contest -media

RALEIGH, N.C., May 6 (Reuters) - Barack Obama won the North Carolina Democratic primary election on Tuesday, defeating rival Hillary Clinton and extending his lead over her in the race for the party's U.S. presidential nomination, U.S. media projected.

Obama's victory in the biggest state vote of the night helped him expand his lead in the race for delegates to the party's summer convention, which will choose a presidential candidate. His lead has increased pressure on Clinton to bow out, with critics saying she has little chance of winning.
