Dodd says looking to act on GSEs this week--BBG TV

WASHINGTON, July 15 (Reuters) - Democratic Sen. Christopher Dodd said on Tuesday he would like to take action on troubled U.S. mortgage agencies before the week is over.

Fresh from hours of questioning Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on the implications of a bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mace, Dodd conveyed a sense of urgency to do something.

"I'd like to get something done by the end of the week," he told Bloomberg TV. "We want to restore that confidence."
