Austria to revise down deficit forecast - minister
WASHINGTON, April 25 (Reuters) - Austria will revise down its budget deficit forecasts for this year after a downwardly revised outlook for German gross domestic product, Finance Minister Josef Proell said on Saturday.
"For us it is clear that we will have new deficit planning in the budget, a higher deficit than we have now of 4.7 percent next year and 3.5 percent this year," he told Reuters.
"If their forecast for Germany is a reality for this year, it will be very hard for us to reach that target."
On Thursday, leading German economic think tanks, which guide government forecasts, said the German economy would contract by 6 percent this year.
