Officials say election result delayed
HARARE (Reuters) - Zimbabwean election officials said on Saturday that final results from a one-candidate presidential election had been delayed and they hoped to announce the outcome on Sunday.
"Tonight we cannot give the results. I don't want to give a time-frame, but I hope it will be tomorrow," Utoile Silaigwana, the deputy chief elections officer for the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, told Reuters.
Officials said results were still coming in from rural constituencies. President Robert Mugabe was the only candidate in the election and is sure to extend his 28-year rule.
