S.Africa's Eskom can be fixed-acting chairman

JOHANNESBURG, Nov 12 (Reuters) - The situation at South Africa's troubled power utility Eskom [ESCJ.UL] is not irreparable and can be turned around, acting Chairman Mpho Makwana said on Thursday.

He also told reporters the government stood "fully behind" the board of directors which had accepted the resignation of CEO Jacob Maroga following a leadership battle with chairman Boddy Godsell, who also stepped down.

Eskom is struggling to keep electricity on in Africa's biggest economy and needs billions of dollars to lift capacity to meet growing demand. (Reporting by Agnieszka Flak)
