Noble Energy to replace Archstone-Smith in S&P 500

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Standard & Poor's said on Monday that S&P MidCap 400 Index constituent Noble Energy Inc (NBL.N) will replace Archstone-Smith Trust ASN.N on the large-cap S&P 500 Index after the close of trading on Friday.

Apartment landlord Archstone is being acquired by U.S. brokerage Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc LEH.N and property developer Tishman Speyer in a deal valued at about $22 billion including assumed debt.

Lamar Advertising Co (LAMR.O) will replace Noble Energy in the S&P MidCap 400 and Ashford Hospitality Trust Inc (AHT.N) will replace Archstone-Smith in the S&P REIT Composite.
