EMI says UK music boss Wadsworth to step down

NEW YORK, Jan 8 (Reuters) - EMI Group, the world's fourth largest music company, said on Tuesday the head of its UK recorded music unit is stepping down as part of the company's ongoing restructuring.

Tony Wadsworth, who was chairman and chief executive of EMI Music UK & Ireland will leave the company after 25 years. Some of his responsibilities for talent development will be taken over by Roger Ames, head of EMI Music North America.

EMI UK is responsible for the majority of the London-based company's hit artists including Coldplay, Kylie Minogue and Lily Allen.

EMI was bought by private equity firm Terra Firma [TERA.UL] in May in a 2.4 billion pounds ($4.8 billion) transaction. (Reporting by Yinka Adegoke, editing by Leslie Gevirtz)
