Brookdale reports wider fourth-quarter loss

NEW YORK, Feb 27 (Reuters) - Brookdale Senior Living Inc. (BKD.N), which operates old people's homes, on Wednesday reported that its fourth-quarter loss widened.

The net loss was $49.2 million, or 49 cents a share, compared with a loss of $37.4 million, or 37 cents a share, in the same quarter last year, the Chicago-based company said.

The company said revenue rose 8.6 percent to $469.5 million during the quarter.

Analysts had on average expected a loss of 35 cents per share on revenue of $477.3 million, according to Reuters Estimates. (Reporting by Yinka Adegoke; Editing by Ben Tan)
