ConAgra recalls peanut butter on salmonella chance

NEW YORK (Reuters) - ConAgra Foods Inc. said on Wednesday it is recalling two brands of peanut butter on a possible link to salmonella, a foodborne illness that can cause death if not treated with antibiotics.

ConAgra recalled Peter Pan Peanut Butter and Great Value Peanut Butter products beginning with product code 2111 after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention produced a report revealing the possibility of a link to salmonella.

None of ConAgra's product tests have indicated the presence of salmonella, the packaged food company said in a statement.

A foodborne illness that can cause death if not treated with antibiotics, salmonella's symptoms include diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps.
